A wonderful image that combines the photograph's subjects in a simple story, featuring soft lighting, an inviting color palette and a good use of visual presentation by cropping the image to more of a panorama format, allowing the image to work both as landscape photograph and a wildlife photograph. Absolutely wonderful!

This photograph offers an immediate visual appeal that draws the viewer’s attention by it's use of soft light, a simple color palette and it’s use of soft horizontal lines, but once it has the view's attention the photograph offers plenty of subtle details of the caterpillar to keep the viewer's attention!!! Simply an outstanding image!

Judge's comments

Outstanding wildlife photography is extremely challenging, an image has to work on many levels and this image certainly does. Timing, composition, colors, and lighting are all elements that must be brought together in harmony, and with this image the photographer did a wonderful job of doing so! An outstanding image for sure!!!
