Announcing the 2016 Getty Images Grants for Editorial Photography

Getty Images’ dedication to excellence in photojournalism means we understand that creating world-class documentary photography requires time, freedom, support and considerable resources. That is why, since its launch in 2004, the Editorial Grants program has supported independent photojournalists around the world, by providing creative freedom and collaborative editorial support as they pursue important personal projects they would not otherwise have the time or resources to address.

This year there will be five editorial grants of $10,000 each. One editorial grant recipient will be chosen for the David Laidler Memorial Award, in honor of the founder of the Getty Images Grants for Editorial Photography program, David Laidler, who passed away in August 2015.

The deadline for applications is May 18. Visit the Editorial Grants website for rules and application instructions.

We are also accepting submissions for this year’s Emerging Talent Award, a yearlong mentorship for a handful of young, promising photographers. Winning photographers receive the support and advice of the Getty Images Reportage editors, and have their work featured on the Reportage website. The deadline is also May 18; view the Grants website for more information.
