Reportage by Getty Images TumblrPigeons bearing small LED lights are released in the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York City, a preview of a performance by the artist Duke Riley and the arts organization Creative Time. New York Magazine notes that, “At the call of a whistle, thousands of birds—Homers and Flights, Rollers and Tumblers, Russian Highfliers and Syrian Damascenes—will emerge from a floating coop, their legs banded with tiny LED lights where military messages once lived, flocking and swooping in a choreographed progression and brightening the sky over the East River.”
The performance takes place on weekends between May 7 and June 12, 2016. More info on the Creative Time website.
