David MarxFlathead Valley Fireworks
4th of July fireworks over the Flathead Valley and Whitefish Lake.
Photography Tip: Sometimes the best way to capture fireworks displays is to "go long." This image, for example, is a composite of two eighty-second long exposures.
To achieve such a slow shutter speed, I needed to place a neutral density filter in front of my camera lens. Slowing the shutter speed way down records multiple bursts of light in the same frame and it adds a little motion blur to the boats out on the lake.
