New Faerieland!
(& continuation of the "Overture" Sequence)

Just a couple of background notes on this piece that I noted down that day, for those that like the series :)

Well, Faerieland has been going since about 2010 & I've just begun introducing characters that are meant to represent 'houses' or 'royalty' & I can't wait to share the names of those houses when I get to building them in greater depth.
The idea for this character was that she wasn't a queen, but perhaps a princess. Definite nobility.

We toyed w/ the idea of using a crown, but I opted to be a bit more subtle in introducing this character, using her expression & smaller details to allude to it, instead.

You will see more of her & her horse quite soon.

After all, they've a journey to make ;)

This particular piece & many of the closer up portraits in faerieland I refer to as "transitional" pieces, because when this becomes a physical book, it allows a transition from one sequence to another.

Ps! A lot of features are coming out as well as a few other fun offerings that I can't talk about yet, but I can mention that I was recently the opening feature in the latest issue of NY based fashion mag "Papercut" & have all of those little features and such on my facebook fan.
