Spirit of Nature photography competition winners
PhotocriticEtcThe Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers has announced the winners of its Spirit of Nature photography competition.
For this competition submissions were requested that captured anything of the essence and spirit of nature and wildlife photography.
Larry Doherty from County Tipperary, Ireland was chosen as the winner from over 410 entries for his macro photo showing a pair of mating flies. He has won 12 months’ membership to The Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers (SINWP) organisation.
Larry tells us that: ‘These flies were on a sycamore tree trunk. The hardest part was making sure I got the two flies heads in focus. It took about three attempts to get the image I wanted.’
There are two runners up: Anne Woodington from Guernsey, Channel Islands and Darren Athersmith from Cumbria, England. Both have won six months’ memberships, too.
Don’t forget to check out the 27 highly commended images as well as the competitions running throughout August.
