Teochew Opera is a traditional Chinese art form, involving music, singing, martial arts, acrobatics and acting.⠀

The Sai Yong Hong Opera Troupe is one of fewer than 20 traditional groups still regularly performing in Thailand. The troupe moves from venue to venue, erecting a temporary stage at each location, beneath which they cook, eat and sleep.⠀

Audience numbers are dwindling and it’s not unusual for cast members to outnumber audience members but the troupe are determined to keep this traditional art form alive for as long as possible.⠀
