Photography Life ReviewsThis is an in-depth review of the Nikon Z7, the first iteration of a high-resolution mirrorless camera that Nikon released in August of 2018. The camera was announced together with the 24 MP Nikon Z6 and the 24-70mm f/4, 35mm f/1.8 and 50mm f/1.8 Z-mount lenses. One could argue that Nikon’s entry into the mirrorless market took too long, but many Nikon shooters waited patiently for this highly-anticipated system to see the light of the day. With over 100 million Nikon F mount lenses out there, Nikon knows that it has a large and a dedicated crowd of Nikon shooters, so it was not the question of “if”, but rather a question of “when” Nikon would finally reveal its mirrorless system to satisfy the mirrorless hunger.
